Pets "R" Us

Filed under: Religion Info — @ 1:45 am

Our animal friends are more than companions. Our furry and feathered playmates are reflections of our unconscious emotions and actions. Through their behavior, animals mirror the aspects of our lives that are out of harmony. These crafty creatures are on a compassionate mission: to help us re-align with our life goals when we get off course.

A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words

Sometimes this reflective phenomenon is easily seen between parents and children. On his TV show, Dr. Phil explains how children’s emotions and actions are reflections of their parents’ unconscious emotions and actions. Dr. Phil uses TV cameras in people’s homes to catch this reflection on video.

In one family, the cameras reveal how accurately a son reflects the emotional state of his mother. The mother is angry. The son is angry. Mom throws things when she is frustrated. So does her child. When feeling out of control, mom smacks her son. When having a tantrum, the child hits his mom. Before the mother saw her own actions on tape, she mistakenly thought that her son is the cause of the disharmony. The mother was unaware that her son is reflecting her own feelings. After seeing the tape, mom realizes that she will have to first change her own behavior before her child’s behavior will change.

The Pet Reflection

Animals, like children, also mirror our unconscious emotions and actions. Just like the son who reflects the anger of his mother, our pet “children” reflect how we really feel when we’re not aware of our true feelings and behaviors. If pets are “misbehaving,” our pet pals are most likely telling us that we’re “misbehaving.” We’re out of alignment with our life goals and don’t know it!

Animals see beyond our “I’ve got it all together” outer appearances. They know what’s really going on inside us. Being quite sensitive, it’s easy for animals to know that we’re angry, scared, confused or depressed before we know it. And to inform us, our pet buddies show us what’s going on with our feelings in the only way they have available—through their actions. Behaving in unusual or annoying ways is usually the only means critters have to get our attention.

Animals are in our lives to assist us to have more fun, joy and harmony. When pets are happy, they’re reflecting to us that we’re being successful in living in a way that’s harmonious and nurturing. And when pets are “misbehaving,” our pesky pals are “telling” us that we’re not acting in our own best interest. In a very real way, our pets “r” us.

Here’s an example of how the “pet reflection” works:

Wishbone, a Cocker Spaniel Who “Leaks”

Wishbone is a sweet cocker spaniel who loves people. Unfortunately, this wiggling ball of fur pees uncontrollably when he interacts with people. If people are standing too close when Wishbone greets them, he leaks all over their feet. Thinking Wishbone’s problem is physical, his “mom,” Ann, takes the spaniel to several veterinarians. Wishbone gets a clean bill of health. The cause of the problem is not physiological.

What’s this leaking spaniel reflecting about Ann? In one moment his behavior says, “I’m happy to see you.” The next second he repels people by peeing on them. The spunky spaniel is giving mixed messages to the people he enjoys being with. Wishbone might be reflecting that Ann is giving mixed messages to the people she enjoys being with.

When Ann tells me about “Wishbone’s” problem, the pet reflection becomes clear. On the one hand she praises her pooch saying, “Wishbone’s such a great dog.” In the next breath she reveals her pain and conflict complaining, “I’m so frustrated with him, I don’t know what to do.” Ann is giving me mixed messages! And the more Ann shares with me about the rest of her life, the more mixed messages I hear.

It doesn’t take me long to verify that Wishbone is reflecting Ann’s mixed communications. When I’m alone with the spaniel and I’m consistent with my message to him, my feet stay dry. Any time I give him a mixed message, he pees on me. I quickly learn not to say “What a good boy” at the same time I feel upset with him.

Through his contradictory actions, Wishbone is trying to tell Ann that she’s putting out contradictory messages to her world. Also, because Wishbone is unconsciously pushing away people he wants to be with, most likely Ann is unconsciously pushing away people she wants to be with. When I asked Ann about this pattern, she realized that she is inadvertently keeping people at a distance.

Wishbone’ s offering a reflective gift to Ann. He’s demonstrating to her that she’s sending mixed messages to him and other people. He’s showing Ann a way for her to be happier. Since Ann took Wishbone’s reflection to heart and is keeping her emotions more congruent with her actions, her relationships are improving. And to her delight, when she’s consistent with her messages to Wishbone, he doesn’t pee on her!

Our pets offer us a gift. They show us when we’re off course in reaching our life goals. We’ll never get our dreams if we’re out of sync with ourselves. So, it’s up to us to make the changes that will harmonize what we’re feeling and doing. And we’ll know when we’re back on course because our blessed companions will stop their disharmonious behavior!

What’s Your Pet’s Gift for You?

Is your dog nipping at people for no apparent reason? Is your horse or parrot biting you? How about your cat clawing your arm or your furniture? Does your pet hide or run away from you? These signs might be your animal companion’s way of showing you that you’re angry—or afraid.

Sometimes we’re not aware that we’re angry. Many people don’t like feeling out of control when angry feelings rumble through them. We don’t like feeling angry when we’d rather be feeling loving. So, when we get angry, we unconsciously stuff our emotions. If your pet is biting or clawing you, someone else or your furniture, this reflection might indicate that you’re unconsciously angry. Once you find your hidden anger and deal with it, your animal will stop biting or clawing.

At other times we might not realize we’re scared. When we’re afraid, we sometimes unconsciously use harsh, biting words to keep people at a distance. Or, we might unconsciously avoid people we’re afraid of. These actions help us feel safe when we’re scared. If your pet is snarling, biting, hiding or running away, this reflection might indicate that you’re afraid and trying to protect yourself. Rather than “bite” other people or “hide” to make yourself feel secure, you might choose a more conscious and desirable way to protect yourself. And once you feel safe, your animal will stop snarling, biting, hiding or running away!

Don’t Blame the Messenger!

When your spunky pet gets your attention through “misbehaving,” it’s for your highest good! So it’s to your benefit to see the reflection. Your buddy is telling you that you’ve strayed from living in a way that will make you happy.

The next time your pet “misbehaves,” rather than correcting your pet, why not experiment with changing yourself? Then notice what happens. Once you harmonize your own feelings and behavior, your “pet’s” behavior problem will “magically” disappear!

If you’d like to find out more about the reflective relationship between people and animals, here are some books that might help. Two books by Ted Andrews, “Animal-Speak” and “Animal-Wise,” show how people enrich their lives by understanding the specific traits of animals. “Animal Angels,” by Charlene R. Johnson and Michael Rebel, contains true tales about how animals guide people’s lives back to happiness and health.

The Great Resurrection Debate

Filed under: Religion Info — @ 7:29 pm

I watched a program the other night featuring the Resurrection. On this program were theologians, debating weather the Resurrection of Jesus was real or a spiritual vision. I wanted to answer all these men about their uncertainty of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We shall take scripture by scripture. 1st. Lets look at weather Jesus died or not.

1A. References; Mat 27:34-50 -
Mat.27:34-50. Crucifixion and death of the Lord Jesus. ( Mar.15:25-37; Luke 23:33-46; John 19:18-30). For the exposition, see John 19:18-30.
1. Mat 27:64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

The chief priests and Pharisees knowing later that, Jesus actually did raise from the dead, put an order out that the story would be that, the disciples of Jesus bribed the Roman Guards and took the body. The chief priests and Pharisees, were afraid of the results of Jesus coming back to life. In Jewish records and here in Matthew 27:64, we see that, Yes, Jesus was dead. (Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.)

Witnesses?
1. The Roman Centurion, what we would call a captain of the guard. Romans had no reason to lie about a Jew. For the Jews were under their control. Matthew 27:54.
2. Joseph of Arimathaea, A Rich man of Nobility, known of the Jews. Mat 27:58.
3. Mary Magdalene, a follower of Jesus. Mat 27:56. 4. Mary, The Mother of Jesus. Mat 27:56.
5. Pontius Pilate, The sixth Roman procurator of Judea.
6. Many women of Jerusalem. Mat 27:55.
7. The Priests, scribes, and elders of the Sanhedrin. Mat 27:41
8. Salome, Wife of Zebedee.

There is no doubt that Jesus was killed on the Cross. History and even His unbelievers concur that the man Jesus was Dead.
The Life and death of Jesus is documented in records from the Roman Library, The Jewish Sanhedrin Records and even the Records of the Islamic Koran.

The next question that was raised, Was Jesus buried in Joseph Arimathaeas tomb, or was He thrown into a pit of dead convicts outside the city wall? Yes, some of these theologians actually believe this. But Lets find out from witnesses.

Qumran Text of Isaiah 53, Catholic Encyclopedia of 1908, Nicodemus Text, Church historian Eusebius of Caesarea (writing ca 325), The main body of Acta Pilati is in two sections, with an appendix, Descensus ad Infernosthe Harrowing of Hellthat does not exist in the Greek texts, and is a later addition to the Latin versions. The first (chapters i-xi) contains the trial of Jesus based upon Luke 23. The second part (xii-xvi)regards the Resurrection.
In it, Leucius and Charinus, the two souls raised from the dead after the Crucifixion, relate to the Sanhedrin the circumstances of Our Lord’s descent to Limbo. A literature of miracle-tale Romance developed around “Leucius Charinus” as author. The Harrowing of Hell episode depicts St Dismas accompanying Jesus in Hell, and the deliverance of the righteous Old Testament patriarchs. The writings of these men and many others are historical facts. Many writings of Jesus, Death, Burial and Resurrection are well documented by Historians and even some that didn’t even believe in Jesus. So we see that Jesus,
1. Was Born. 2. Was Crucified.
3. Was buried in a tomb.

Now lets talk about the Resurrection itself.

Now the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead, is quite a controversial subject. Many prominent theologians believe that the sightings of Jesus were sightings of a visionary means. They believe that The disciples were so distraught, that they all imagined an apparition of Jesus, making it a spiritual encounter instead of a physical one. They do not take into account that the Bible tells us that Thomas actually, felt of Christ, that Jesus ate fish and was clothed. Their doubt stems from, Jesus being able to appear and disappear at will.

From the meeting room that the disciples were in and the meetings of Jesus and the disciples on the road. (Ref. John 20:14-16, Mark15:40, Mark 15:47; Luke 24:10; John 20:14-18.) Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

The biggest reasoning for these theologians to doubt the physical Resurrection is in a single word; (appeared)which means,
To come into view: emerge, issue, loom, materialize, show. Idioms: make put in an appearance, meet the eye. To begin to appear or develop: arise, commence, dawn, emerge, originate. They have mistakenly confused these two words, appeared and apparition. The word apparition means; spiritualistic manifestation of a person or object in which a form not actually present is seen with such intensity that belief in its reality is created.

The ancient and widespread belief in apparitions and ghosts (specters of dead persons) is based on the idea that the spirit of a man, or of any object, is endowed with volition and motion of its own. Mar 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
Appearances; Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

He appeared: Luke 24:36-43; John 20:19, John 20:20; 1Co 15:5

The Physical; Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. Luke 24:41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
Luke 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
Luke 24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

Acts; 10:41

1Co 15:5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
In Mark 16:16 ; we see that Jesus, after His resurrection, gave the only two alternatives to Salvation, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” We must understand that, “Faith”, is believing in the Birth, Ministry, Death, Resurrection and Assention of Christ. We must believe that the Bible is the ultimate truth. If we do not believe that Jesus rose from the Dead, our Faith is in vain. This is our Hope, Faith and future in Christ. We either believe or we don’t. As For Me; I and My House shall serve the Lord.

1Co 15:16 -19; For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. ars

The Coming Wrath

Filed under: Religion Info — @ 1:24 am

Understanding the Message

Simple lessons in hermeneutics, the science of interpreting scriptures is to know (1) whose speaking, (2) to whom the speaking is done (3) about whom or what is being spoken. These simple principles often used by rational minds are jettisoned when speaking about bible prophecy.

John Spoke About the Coming Wrath

It is a theme shared by several writers of the Bible. Many today speak of a yet to come wrath. They hold people in fear and trepidation.

Seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, John asked, Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? (Matthew 3:7)Using the principles above, we first identify John, the immerser, as the speaker.

Secondly, he addresses his contemporaries, Pharisees and Sadducees as a brood of vipers. He wants to know why they, in addition to penitent disciples have come to his baptism? Who had warned them to flee from the coming wrath?

Thirdly, he speaks concerning the wrath to come or the about to come wrath, literally, the coming wrath. John’s message grew out of a contemporary ongoing event, his baptisms, to a contemporary people, those who had come out from Jerusalem and Judea and from around the Jordan river to be baptized of him.

Next was the reason and motivation that drew them there in large numbers, a desire to escape what he styles the coming wrath. It is apparent that John’s hearers believed this coming wrath would happen in their lifetime and that their present action of repenting and confessing their sins could avert its effect on them.

Paul and the Coming Wrath

For Paul, the wrath is once again contemporary and applicable to the same people in the same locale. Identifying those who murdered the Messiah, a geographical link is made to the same area where John preached and baptized.

“For you became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans, who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are contrary to all men, forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.” (1 Thessalonians 2:14-16)

As with John the baptizer, Paul targets the impenitent antagonists of Judea and people around Jerusalem as those marked for the coming wrath. Likewise he sees the event as contemporary to his generation.

Using the same words as John, he urges that his readers wait for the Lord from heaven who delivers us from the wrath to come, literally, the about to come wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

Luke’s Prophecy Concerning Wrath and The Temple

Describing what is commonly known as the overthrow of the Jewish temple and their theocratic state, (Luke 21:5,6), Luke says there would be great distress in the land [of Judea] and wrath upon this people. (Luke 21:23).

He too cites Jerusalem and Judea as the scene of this wrath. He marks it as the time when all things written are fulfilled, (21:22) connecting it to the coming of the Son of Man (v. 27), the coming of the kingdom (v. 31) all within that generation which would by no means pass away till all these things take place, (v.32).

Thus for all those who spoke of the coming wrath, they saw it related to Jerusalem and Judea, to John and Jesus’ contemporaries and murderers. It was imminent in their day and happened before that generation passed. A simple lesson on hermeneutics, who’s speaking, who’s spoken to and what is spoken about will go far to cure the prophetic madness afflicting the church and society today.
