The Inspirational Tale of Stephen A. Schwarzman

Filed under: Social Parlor — @ 7:15 am

This is Stephen A. Schwarzman’s story. A year ago Stephen was ranked the fifty-third most wealthy in the US collated by Forbes Magazine, but it isn’t money which makes this tale intriguing but also Stephen’s undreamt of success in the business and finance industry and his generosity to education and the liberal arts. This goes to show that the keys to a successful life are hard work plus unflagging persistence.

Stephen A. Schwarzman and his partner Peter Peterson founded the portfolio management and financial advisory firm Blackstone Group in the mid-eighties. More recently, it has developed into a world leader in M&A, but note that he didn’t start out heading his own venture. Stephen spent his childhood in the suburbs of Philadelphia. He graduated from Abington Senior High School, his next step was to get his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1969. He undertook a master’s degree at the widely respected Harvard Business school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After concluding his post-graduate degree, Stephen commenced a job in investment banking at Lehman Brothers. He was given the role of managing director at the exceedingly young age of 31.

Not only does Stephen offer his time and money to a broad range of non-profit organizations, but additionally he has also volunteered as a non-faculty professor at Yale. Furthermore, he serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan. In addition, Stephen just last spring gifted to the New York Public Library a hundred million dollars to fund their recent construction project. They also named one of their new buildings the “Stephen A. Schwarzman Building” to commemorate his lavish gift.

Unsurprisingly, America’s elite look at Stephen A. Schwarzman as a role model: Times Magazine last year named Stephen as one of the one hundred most influential people alive today. His rise in the business world has been nothing short of miraculous, not to mention the fact that his unstinting support of music and the liberal arts has encouraged those around him.

As far as the financial world goes, Stephen Schwarzman can do no wrong. Stephen A. Schwarzman is doubtless a fascinating man who has left his mark on the USA and the business community that serves it.
