Softball Uniform History

Filed under: Shopping Info, Sports Info, Wardrobe — @ 7:51 pm

Originally, Softball uniform softball uniforms were mostly heavy sweaters, however sometimes they had checks or other shapes or patterns on them. Later, players on the team wore leather jackets to show support for their team. In the last while, softball uniforms have evolved to become a similar shaped jacket, but made of nylon, to show the team. The Gordon International softball uniform is not just a jacket however, but also includes a hat, a shirt, pants, and an undershirt. The caps have to be exactly the same for everyone, but only men are obliged to wear them. Women on teams are not obliged to wear a hat of any kind as part of their softball uniforms. The shirts all have numbers on them, and are either single or double digit numbers, i.e. not to exceed 99. Some teams will write a zero in front of a single digit, but for all useful purposes, 5 and 05 are exactly the same on the field. Shoes are a required part of the softball uniform softball uniform too, and it is permissible to have plastic spikes in the shoes, but not metal ones. The spikes help the player grip the field with his or her feet while running from one base to the next.
